آيلتس چيست؟
آزمون آیلتس (IELTS= International English Language Testing System) جهت سنجش میزان آمادگی داوطلبان برای ادامه تحصیل، فراگیـری مهارتهـای تخصصـی و یـا کار و اقامـت در کشـورهـای انگلیسی زبان طراحی شـده است. ایـن آزمون مشترکاً تـوسط دانشگاه کمبریج، کنسول بریتانیـا (British Council) و مرکز آیلتس استرالیا در بیش از 500 مرکز در 120 کشور جهان برگزار میشود و سالانه چیزی حدود یک و نیم میلیون نفر در آن شرکت میکنند.
این آزمون در دو نوع مختلف موجود میباشد: آکادمیک (Academic) و عمومی (General Training). افرادی که قصد تکمیل تحصیلات خود در دانشگاههای انگلیسی زبان را دارند (کارشناسی به بالا) باید از نوع آکادمیک این آزمون، و افرادی که به منظور گذراندن دورههای کوتاهمدت فنی و حرفهای، اخذ دیپلم، کار و یا اقامت قصد سفـر به کشورهـای انگلیسی زبان را دارند، میتوانند از نوع عمومی این آزمون استفاده کنند.

Canterbury, England
Canterbury is where Saint Augustine, who revived christianism on the islands, started building an abbey in 597. Since then, it has been the mother church of the Church of England. In 1170, archbishop Thomas Becket was murdered in his cathedral at the instigation of king Henry II. After Thomas Becket's fast canonization in 1173, pilgrims began to pour into town. Canterbury's rising fortunes prompted the construction of the current cathedral. The first major Gothic cathedral built in England, the impressive and evocative Canterbury Cathedral is considered one of the masterpieces of Gothic religious architecture. It sits in a mostly pedestrian medieval old town enclosed within moats. The Canterbury Cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage Site
